CUP offers a unique service of access to excellent facilities, storage, mentoring and courses; details of which are listed below. With any membership plan you get your own personal storage shelf (approx. 90cmx45cmx45cm), advice and mentoring from our staff, use of equipment and up to 40 litres a month set temperature firings. The only additional thing you need to buy is clay, which we sell on-site at bulk prices.
Several large making tables will provide ample surface area for our members.
There will be 7 shimpo whisper wheels available to members and classes in our throwing area.
We will have an excellent quality slab roller for members interested in hand building.
Two Rhode top loader kilns and one large front loader will be available for regular bisque firing (Included in membership fee) and will be available to rent at designated times for high firing and specialist glaze firing (at an additional cost.)
clay and glazes
Only clay purchased from CUP can be used on the premises for logistical reasons. We aim to make clay as affordable as possible by buying in bulk and transferring this benefit to our members. We will also have a pug mill to recycle clay for members and host community recycling days where members can learn to make more sustainably.
Only pre-mixed glazes will be available to purchase and use on site initially.
CUP will always have a qualified ceramicist on site with a wide skill base to support members in whatever way they may need. We have made connections with Hereford College of Arts and will support undergraduates and masters graduate ceramicists by housing them through time and work exchange agreements. One to one sessions with our mentors will also be able to be arranged at an extra cost. If this is something that interests you please contact us through the links at the foot of the page.
Each member will have a personal storage shelf (approx. 90cmx45cmx45cm).
shop and snack
CUP will also house a shop selling tools and a cosy cafe serving teas, coffee, cakes, salads and toasties all served on our home produce of course!
