Let go of perfection and discover the joy of making in this playful, hands-on masterclass with ceramic artist Lucy Baxendale. Through a series of intuitive drawing exercises and sculptural experiments, you'll be encouraged to loosen up, relinquish control, and embrace the unexpected. Beginning with automatic drawing, a Surrealist technique that bypasses conscious thinking through free-flowing mark-making, you'll explore what happens when instinct takes the lead. These spontaneous drawings will become the starting point for transforming two-dimensional marks into expressive ceramic sculptures. Lucy will guide you through short demonstrations and creative exercises designed to quiet the inner critic, encourage curiosity, and open up new ways of seeing and making. Rather than focusing on achieving a perfect outcome, this workshop celebrates play, experimentation, and the creative possibilities that emerge when you trust the process. Whether you're an experienced artist or picking up a pencil for the first time, this workshop offers a welcoming space to explore drawing and sculpture in a fresh, freeing way. You'll leave with your own unique ceramic sculpture and perhaps a renewed sense of confidence in following your intuition.
