Raku Experience

Service Description

During this course you will have the opportunity to get behind the barriers and your hands on some tongs! We begin with decoration of work in the studio, to build understanding of different finishes: oxidation glazes, reduction glazes, horsehair, feathers, and obvara. You will have the opportunity to load and - if you desire - light the kiln. After the firing is finished, you will unload your work and have the opportunity to try different finishing techniques. 6 pots for decoration will be supplied by the studio, if you wish to bring your own pots please do. There will be two large (1kg), two medium (600g), and two small test pots (200g). Minimum age 18, experience of pottery or raku events desirable. Lunch will be provided from our on site vegetarian cafe, a booking form will follow a week before the course is due to start 2026 DATES: March 21 April 25 May 23
